The pit is fully lit but no endpoint can be witnessed. Instead, if one is to peer down they would only see the pit continue infinitely with every pillar eventually meeting at the vanishing point of the observer's vision. For non-psychics, it's considered both mesmerizing and sickening.

Naturally one wonders what occurs when one falls off the edge, but strangely this has never occurred nor been tested. This is not a lapse in science, more a strange effect of the pit itself. Objects thrown seem to gain extra weight and drop short of the edge. Objects dropped always manage to catch a thumb or such to tumbled back to safe land.

The sheer persistence of this unnatural incompetence has made for very frustrated researchers. Of course, any extensive testing is generally unallowed by the Poke'mon of Dovve Fo Uddjo who seek to protect the secrets of the city's inner workings.

The only other note is that this bizarre by-product (whether physical and real or merely illusionary) has served as the stage for the city's defense system in which intruders without valid entry vouchers are driven off. The severity of the automated defense system's pushback against trespassers depends on a number of complex and inexplicable factors. Non-Dovve Fo Uddjo psychics contracted to maintain the security grid have given accounts of the system's numerous flaws and constant downtime. In more extreme cases, the defense grid can experience catastrophic or even life-threatening malfunctions, all while being maintained by staff that aren't 100% sure on its inner workings.
