On the far east end of Arcea is one of two volcanos on Tulaan, the other being in Illaminamo. Ember Summit is the more active of the two, with lava flows coming down from top and spilling into the ocean and out towards the mainland. The lava coming out is relatively cool when exiting the Volcano, leading to it cooling down to rock soon after entering Shade Valley. The plume of smoke rolling from the top of the volcano casts an everlasting shadow over Shade Valley. The winds here carry the smoke to the northeast, out toward the ocean.
This long trail of smoke crosses over a collection of islands along the eastern coast just south of Dragon's Peak. This causes a stormy, electrified strip where the sky turns green, serving as something of a landmark for Yahneri sailors taking the coastal route to and from Illaminamo.
The mountain itself is a hostile environment for all but the most hardy of fire type Poke'mon. Even so, an ancient Kessian temple can be found, which had been built by carving a series of caves and rooms into the volcano that leads up to the top. It's here, at the summit, overlooking the drop into the pit of lava, that a seat of the ancient eastern empire government sat.
One of the oldest surviving legends of Ember Summit thusly come from the Kessian Empire, which talks of the Lord of the Summit. A grand winged beast sits atop the smouldering volcano, curled and dormant until the day it awakens and wrecks havoc upon all the armies of Tulaan and brings all civilization to its knees. The Lord of the Summit is a force of the return to nature, dragging Poke'mon from a structured world back into the days of the wild. The Lord of the Summit is also a Kessian god of death, and the fear of death shall drive Poke'mon Civilization back to oblivion.
In centuries past, many of the rooms of the sprawling nexus of Kessi ruins were taken over by Conduits. These rooms were used for smelting weapons and armor, particularly during the long years of stagnation during the 2nd War of Arcea. However, now the old smelting factories sit abandoned, with centuries old equipment rotting against old stones.
The ancient Kessian temple has otherwise been kept in good condition, typically only visited by historians or the occasional tourist. However, since the village of Steeljag was purchased by the now owner of upstart Steeljag Money Market Trading company, entry to the Ember Summit temple has been restricted. These days, only the occasional researcher from the Arceliaze Board of Historical Research is allowed on the premises.
The increased security and secrecy of the Kessian Ruins has been the subject of speculation and rumor.
It was discovered that the final pearl, the Fire Pearl, rest within the depths of Ember Summit. Team Azure and the rest of the guild had to make a final effort to secure the pearl for the side of good!
